THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Senior Manager, Insurance and Risk, you will oversee, manage and provide strategic guidance and decision making on the company’s insurance policies and related risk management programs globally.  Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel – Operations, you’ll work closely with insurance brokers and other third party advisors as well as internal stakeholders to arrange for insurance policies and similar risk-transfer products and services to manage the company’s financial exposures to key operational risks. You will also lead the insurance claims process to maximize insurance recoveries, and analyze claims data to tailor the company’s insurance and other risk transfer programs.  Strong candidates will be motivated by what they can achieve and how they will impact the company.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• You will develop, implement, administer, and maintain Chipotle’s insurance and similar risk management programs.
• Advise the global business to ensure informed and intelligent decisions about insurance coverages, including with respect to insurance policies and retained risks, captive insurance and reinsurance arrangements, and similar structures and policies.
• Negotiate and coordinate terms and conditions (e.g., coverage, premiums, deductibles, retentions) of all of Chipotle’s insurance programs globally.
• Supervise claims administration, including participation in defense and resolution of underlying claims, ensuring communication with insurance carriers to efficiently move policy claims to resolution, and track and manage claims payments.
• Facilitate the administration of captive insurance and other risk management programs.
• Manage insurance broker and underwriter relationships and serve as a primary point of contact with service providers, underwriters, etc.
• Together with internal claims managers, assess and select third party technology and other solutions that will enhance Chipotle’s management of general liability, auto, workers compensation and similar claims.
• Manage the annual insurance renewal processes.
• Partner cross functionally to review and correct issues and participate in reviewing and updating policies and procedures related to claims.
• Attend quarterly claims reviews with third-party administrators and outside counsel.
• Ensure compliance with contractual agreements and internal controls related to insurance and other risk transfer provisions; establish and monitor a process for risk identification in contract review and negotiations.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

• Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university required.
• 8-10+ years of insurance experience required for this role, with preference for experience in the corporate/policyholder environment.
• Detail-oriented and able to prioritize multiple projects and priorities.
• Analytical and strategic thinker who is able to cross-collaborate and communicate with various parties effectively.
• Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience handling claims and experience working within a large organization.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $142-210,000. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
