THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Senior Analyst, Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA), you will be a key member of Chipotle’s FSQA team, owning the food safety and quality systems for your assigned category of Proteins. You’ll lead product and facility risk assessments, manage product specifications, deeply understand how items are manufactured and used in our restaurants, enforce cold chain and traceability requirements, maintain supplier compliance documentation, and other initiatives assigned by FSQA leadership. This Senior Analyst will also collaborate with other Chipotle Internal Teams (Supply Chain, Culinary, Product Development, and Operations) to support supplier diversification, new product commercialization, and restaurant operations from an FSQA perspective.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Conduct hazard analyses and risk assessments for your assigned category.

  • Develop and execute proactive strategies to mitigate quality and food safety risks for assigned categories.

  • Conduct on-site FSQA audits of prospective and existing supplier facilities to ensure compliance with regulatory and Chipotle requirements.

  • Maintain working relationships with each facility’s food safety leadership.

  • Review and interpret results related to validation studies--product shelf-life, ingredient functionality, and antimicrobial interventions.

  • Work closely with the Chipotle FSQA Team and other cross-functional stakeholders on all initiatives associated with your category.

  • Manage the day-to-day execution of food safety and quality programs associated with your category, such as the monitoring of restaurant food quality reporting, guest feedback, regulatory activity, product removals, quality inspection protocols, and Distribution Center storage and handling.

  • Monitor and report on Food Safety and Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) associated with your category.

  • Conduct investigations, root cause analysis, and hold suppliers/distribution centers accountable to implement corrective actions associated with real-time monitoring of food quality reports from restaurants and guest feedback.

  • Support the above in additional markets as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) in a related field, such as, Meat Science, Poultry Science, Food Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Food Systems from a 4-year college or university. This formal education must include substantial emphasis on Food Safety.

  • Master’s Degree (MS) in Meat Science, Poultry Science, Food Science, or Food Safety is preferred.

  • 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience.

  • Working knowledge of the Meat and Poultry Industry (production, processing, distribution, and consumption). Meaningful experience working within this industry is preferred.

  • Understanding of experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of results related to validation studies (food product shelf-life, ingredient functionality, and antimicrobial interventions)

  • Working knowledge of GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) Auditing Schemes, and Certification Bodies

  • Ability to conduct on-site audits at food manufacturing facilities.

  • Familiarity and experience with the requirements of the regulatory agencies responsible for governance over your category (USDA, FDA, state/local agencies).

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% (typically travel every other week).

PAY TRANSPARENCY

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $85,000.00–$122,500.00. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
