International Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager

Newport Beach, California 610 Newport Center Drive, 92660

CULTIVATE A BETTER WORLD

Food served fast does not have to be a typical fast-food experience. Chipotle has always done things differently, both in and out of our restaurants. We are changing the face of fast food, starting conversations, and directly supporting efforts to shift the future of farming and food. We hope you will join us as we continue to learn, evolve, and shape what comes next on our mission to make better food accessible to everyone.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Manager, International Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA), you will help protect the safety and quality of Chipotle’s food as we grow in international markets. Working across the supply chain and restaurant operations, you will turn Chipotle’s standards into practical, locally relevant programs that protect guests and strengthen trust in our brand.

This is an opportunity to shape how food safety and quality come to life in new markets not simply maintain existing programs. You will partner with licensed operators, joint ventures, suppliers, distributors, and restaurant teams to identify risk, build strong systems, and create lasting improvements from supplier to restaurant.

Your work will have a meaningful, visible impact: helping protect our guests, supporting responsible international growth, and building a culture where food safety and quality are shared commitments. With significant time in market, you will combine strategy, data, and hands-on partnership to influence decisions and help Chipotle cultivate a better world through safe, high quality food.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Support international partnership markets and take ownership of assigned markets over time.
  • Develop and implement food safety and quality strategies with international operators and Chipotle’s FSQA team.
  • Assess suppliers, distribution centers, and restaurants; identify risks and drive corrective action.
  • Partner with licensees, suppliers, distributors, and restaurant teams to strengthen food safety and quality programs.
  • Analyze audit, inspection, testing, and performance data to track KPIs, prioritize resources, and recommend improvements.
  • Support food safety, quality, and process-improvement projects and clearly communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Spend up to approximately 50% of time in-market conducting visits, assessments, training, and coaching.
  • Build food safety expertise and influence consistent standards and behaviors across international operations.
  • Monitor emerging regulations, industry trends, and food safety risks, and advise leadership on potential impact.
  • Support new market launches by adapting Chipotle standards into effective, locally compliant programs.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

  • 5–8 years of experience in food safety and quality assurance, food science, microbiology, or a related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of supervisory or people-leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Supplier and distribution center audit or assessment experience; relevant training or certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food science, processing, preparation, food safety systems, quality assurance practices, and domestic and international regulations.
  • Analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to interpret data and clearly communicate trends, findings, and recommendations.
  • Strong organization and project-management skills, with proficiency in quality management systems, Microsoft Office, data analysis, documentation, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work independently with urgency and attention to detail across multiple priorities, international time zones, and evolving business needs.
  • Ability to conduct sensory evaluations across varied foods and potential allergens; bilingual or multilingual capability preferred.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to approximately 50–60%, including visits to restaurants, suppliers, and distribution centers, stays of up to two weeks, short-notice travel, and driving to the Newport Beach area when required.
