THE OPPORTUNITY
As the Analyst, Sustainability, you will play a critical role in enabling and strengthening Chipotle’s sustainability strategy by translating complex regulatory requirements and materials data into actionable insights that reduce risk, improve waste outcomes, and support responsible material decisions across our multi-unit restaurant system. You will also play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of our packaging data, the integrity and defensibility of our reporting, and the alignment of material decisions with both compliance requirements and environmental commitments. You will analyze performance trends, surface opportunities for improvement, and support initiatives that strengthen recycling, composting, and overall waste reduction outcomes across the system. We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytically strong sustainability professional who is motivated by environmental impact and excels at operating at the intersection of data, compliance, and materials innovation.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Monitor regulatory developments related to packaging, labeling, waste management, and producer responsibility requirements, translating evolving obligations into clear internal action steps that support compliance and environmental progress.
Collect, validate, and manage packaging purchase and weight data; accurately categorize materials into required reporting classifications, and calculate the data inputs necessary for accurate and defensible compliance submissions.
Serve as a technical resource on packaging materials, supporting cross-functional teams in making environmentally responsible and compliant material decisions.
Evaluate alternative packaging materials and support implementation of improvements that reduce environmental impact while maintaining operational effectiveness.
Analyze diversion and waste performance data to identify opportunities to increase recycling and organics recovery across restaurants.
Support waste service rightsizing efforts by analyzing service levels and operational data to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen diversion outcomes.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the general sustainability inbox, triaging inquiries, coordinating cross-functional input as needed, and ensuring timely, accurate responses on behalf of the team.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE
Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related field is required
2–4 years of experience in sustainability, packaging compliance, waste management, regulatory reporting, or data analytics
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy
Ability to interpret, summarize, and communicate technical or regulatory guidance into clear actionable insights
Experience working with structured data sets and reporting processes
Effective cross-functional communication skills with the ability to collaborate across different teams within the organization
Ability to operate effectively in evolving regulatory environments, applying structured analysis to new or ambiguous requirements
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and evolving environment
Self-starting and highly motivated with the ability to work independently as needed
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and develop data-informed recommendations for improvement
PAY TRANSPARENCY
A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $69,000.00–$93,000.00. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
