THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Analyst, FSQA Sensory and R&D, you will support the FSQA (Food Safety and Quality Assurance) team by conducting sensory and quality evaluations on the full suite of CMG products. The Sensory Analyst will frequently work with CMG's Culinary & Commercialization Teams, as well as our suppliers to ensure food items are of optimal quality across the entire restaurant network.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Organize, prepare, & perform physical and analytical product evaluations on a variety of proteins, legumes, tortillas, dairy, RTE/RTD products, non-foods and equipment.
• Generate reports and recaps summarizing product evaluation results inclusive of analytical, sensorial, & microbiological findings and recommended next steps to be shared with CMG cross-functional teams &/or suppliers.
• Update R&D Project Tracker/Timeline according to core menu updates/evaluations.
• Partner with other members of the R&D (Research & Development) and FSQA Team to generate protocol & associated sensory forms to be utilized in both CMG & supplier-level analyses. Protocol to be developed varies by product type as well as objective of analysis such as product shelf-life, control matching, and more.
• Partner with CMG suppliers & laboratory partners to collect product samples, analyze results, & work with team to update necessary business & quality documentation.
• Partner with CMG suppliers to perform root cause analyses of food quality issues. Analyst will obtain pertinent technical documents & data to identify potential issues and prescribe corrective actions.
• Provide technical support for the drafting of restaurant training material and attend working sessions to ensure product quality and food safety standards are being met.
• Attend weekly project update meetings for various categories to provide updates for product status and R&D specific progress.
• Help receive and organize sample shipments from suppliers and help maintain general Test Kitchen cleanliness and organization. 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

• B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or Food Microbiology required.
• 1-3 years’ experience required, preferably in a QSR or Food Manufacturing environment.
• Have completed sensorial training and/or willingness/ability to be trained required.
• Have completed culinary training and/or willingness/ability to be trained preferred.
• Possess a strong understanding of Food Science principles, sensory analysis, and food preparation techniques.
• Critical thinking, problem solving, and ability to articulate meaningful findings and feedback to commercialization teams.
• Self-starting and proactive approach to ensure necessary steps and materials are being completed.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and other software necessary for data entry and reporting.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $74,000 - $104,000. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
