THE OPPORTUNITY

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Define and lead Chipotle’s enterprise strategy for restaurant equipment connectivity and Energy Management Systems (EMS), including IoT standards, networking, controls, data collection, and security protocols.
  • Own the roadmap for smart restaurant and EMS capabilities, enabling automation, remote monitoring, energy optimization, visibility, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Own the platform architecture responsible for ingesting, normalizing, and distributing equipment and EMS data across enterprise systems.
  • Ensure seamless integration among EMS, connected equipment, ServiceNow, ServiceChannel, CMMS, and enterprise data environments.
  • Define and enforce enterprise standards for equipment connectivity, EMS controls, data architecture, and vendor integration.
  • Drive scalable solutions that can be deployed efficiently across thousands of restaurant locations.
  • Partner with Technology, Facilities, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to align on priorities, use cases, and implementation strategies.
  • Establish technical standards and certification requirements for “Chipotle-ready” equipment in partnership with vendors and manufacturers.
  • Influence equipment manufacturers and technology partners to align with Chipotle’s long-term connectivity and data strategy.
  • Lead connected-equipment and EMS vendor engagement, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security standards, service levels, and performance expectations.
  • Develop strategies to enable connectivity for legacy equipment through sensors, retrofits, or middleware solutions.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to leverage equipment and EMS data for energy efficiency, restaurant comfort, predictive maintenance, cost optimization, and improved restaurant performance.
  • Establish EMS governance, operating procedures, performance reporting, service-level expectations, incident escalation, and recurring vendor reviews to resolve systemic issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Present strategy, roadmaps, and performance updates to senior leadership, including VP and executive stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop direct report(s), providing coaching, direction, and support to drive individual and team success.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously evolve Chipotle’s facilities technology strategy.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Technology, or related field preferred; or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in technology, facilities systems, IoT, EMS, or a related field, with increasing responsibility.
  • Experience developing and implementing enterprise-level technology strategies and architectures.
  • Strong understanding of IoT and EMS ecosystems, building controls, device connectivity, data integration, and platform architecture.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise systems such as ServiceNow, CMMS platforms, or similar tools.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to set strategy and drive alignment across multiple functions in a complex organization.
  • Experience working with or presenting to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience managing vendors, technology partners, and external ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale solutions across large, multi-site operations.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.
  • Experience leading and developing team members.
  • Knowledge of facilities operations, restaurant environments, or multi-unit retail environments preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-starter with a forward-thinking mindset and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $116,000.00–$162,500.00. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
