THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Principal, Prototype Design Management you will collaborate with a team of internal and field Principals and external Contractors who all contribute to Chipotle’s Development Plan by supporting the Design and Construction functions across North America from to develop and maintain Chipotle’s new restaurant prototypical design standards and specifications. You will also work to ensure refresh, remodel and strategic initiative designs align with branding, account for technology innovations, and can be replicated across the globe on time and on-budget.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Ensure new restaurant prototypes, specifications, designs, innovations, refresh, and remodels are rolled-out on budget and meet departmental goals and completion dates.
  • Evaluate and assess opportunities for improved cost efficiencies, as they relate to Architectural / Design / Engineering processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other field-based Senior/Principal design and construction managers, Indirect Procurement, Ops Services, IT, Facilities, Safety / Asset Protection, and Food Safety Teams on all prototypical design deployment efforts.
  • Support roll-out of special initiative projects impacting the restaurant environment and collaborate with necessary cross functional partners to complete.
  • Review existing restaurant layouts and integrate specific initiative requirements (i.e. installation of new equipment or new brand design elements)
  • Collaborate with Indirect Procurement, Ops Services, Facilities, IT, Safety / Asset Protection, Food Safety Teams to establish program scope and design methodology for implementation and execution of any new brand elements, equipment, and / or design practices and procedures.
  • Educate and manage external support resources (Architects / Engineers) in executing various national roll-out programs (i.e. Dish Sanitizer installations).
  • Collaborate with Chipotle COE Construction / Program Managers to educate and support program installation details and specifications.
  • Partner with VP and Senior Director, Global Design & Innovation along with core Development Teams to ensure new concepts are appropriately translated into prototypical design documents to be distributed to the core Development Teams.
  • Guide the team as a Design SME in deploying all aspects of in-restaurant guest experience and delivering the creative direction of the restaurant environment.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university preferred.
  • 10+ years of Construction, Design, Development, and/or Project Management experience.
  • 3+ years experience in leading small teams and/or supervisory experience.
  • Be able to work independently.
  • Strong people and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop/maintain collaborative relationships with External Vendors & Partners.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have excellent influence.
  • Be able to collaborate with Development Leadership Team.
  • Be able to collaborate with Real Estate, Design, Construction, and Operations peers.
  • Be able to research and compile information relative to new design elements.
  • Be able to work within a fast-paced and high-growth environment.
  • Proficiency in applicable project management programs (including Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Light travel required.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $114,000.00–$159,000.00. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
