THE OPPORTUNITY
The Manager, IT Services Infrastructure provides leadership for the Services Infrastructure team, which is at the core of enabling Chipotle’s daily operations and continued growth. This role will lead and continue to develop a team of talented engineers with deep knowledge of public/private cloud services and edge capabilities. The Manager will establishing best practices, standards, and governance in an Agile environment. This role will lead through collaboration, communication, and innovation with peers and stakeholders.
The position requires strong managerial skills and relies on extensive knowledge and professional discretion to plan and achieve goals. Ingenuity and flexibility are expected; an innovative problem solver with business acumen. To be effective in this role the Services Manager will have a strong background in cloud and edge services at scale. This will include architecture, solution design, virtualization/containers, server/storage, certificates, identities, GitOps/DevOps, and IaC at a minimum.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Develop and maintain a multi-year strategic plan for running reliable hosts and services for workloads and capabilities in Chipotle’s restaurants, hyperscale cloud platforms, and offices throughout the world.
Own the overall design, deployment, and ongoing care of infrastructure technology services and capabilities at the edge, in the cloud, and on-premises.
Provide effective, resilient technology solutions that contribute to high restaurant throughput while maintaining an optimal expense ratio.
Work with Chipotle’s product teams to research, test, and implement new in-restaurant technology solutions, such as edge compute at scale.
Define and maintain the roadmap for Chipotle’s Compute and Services Infrastructure that balances and prioritizes current operational demands, disruptions/resiliency, and opportunities with the long-term strategic goals of our business.
Develop and maintain an operational plan that includes configuration and patch management. Drive the proactive lifecycle of operating systems and applications and define SLA’s. Provide quarterly SLA reporting and escalate as appropriate.
Own backup/archive/recovery processes and procedures across cloud and on-premises that adheres to Chipotle’s data retention policies.
Actively participate in Chipotle’s incident management processes, on-call escalation procedures, and change management standards.
Drive and evangelize efficiencies that enable strategic growth for our business, e.g. Infrastructure Automation, Infrastructure as Code, etc. Be an organizational thought leader on cloud and edge topics and evangelism.
Assume responsibility for infrastructure services cost optimization, governance, financial requirements, hardware/software licensing, and planning within functional area; leverage partner relationships to maximize efficiencies and maximize internal relationships to keep respective department costs optimal.
Maintain control over relevant projects to ensure that they are completed within planned time estimates; uses effective agile practices.
Keep Kanban backlog organized and work proactively with executive management to ensure activities with the highest financial and strategic return are pursued. Assign personnel to projects and tasks as appropriate.
Implement monitoring, alerting, and remediation solutions that enable a proactive approach to cloud and edge health, reliability, and uptime.
Plan, schedule, and conduct Disaster Recovery exercises to ensure cloud and on-premises resiliency is healthy. Incorporate learnings from DR in to designs and processes. Communicate results and improvements bi-annually.
Work with Chipotle Procurement, GRC and Legal teams to maintain 3rd party agreements in a timely manner; maintain healthy vendor and contractor relationships.
Ensure that all projects are conducted in compliance with standard methodologies and procedures, e.g. GDPR, CCPA, PCI, SOX etc.
Recruit and build high performing team of infrastructure engineers to plan, execute and operate at scale. Motivate staff to perform to their full potential.
Establish and administer an annual performance review, continuing education and career development program for each information technology professional staff member.
Effectively communicate in a timely manner.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Master’s Degree preferred.
8+ years related work experience in areas of Cloud and/or Edge Architecture, Administration or Engineering.
3-5 years of supervisory experience.
Experience in QSR and/or retail environments.
Strong understanding across Cloud and Edge Infrastructure, IT Operations, and IT Security.
Clear, effective written and verbal communications skills.
Previous experience with an organization of our size and industry.
Participate in on-call rotation. Some travel may be required.
PAY TRANSPARENCY
A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $114,000.00–$159,000.00. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
