THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Lead Engineer, Site Reliability, you will be responsible for the availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning of our infrastructure environment, with a focus on our online ordering environment and tangentially related processes. You will be responsible for driving the analysis, design, and implementation of enterprise-wide systems. You will lead efforts to automate application installations with minimal manual intervention. You will be responsible for escalated production issues, partnering with appropriate teams as needed. Additionally, this role includes mentoring and providing guidance to the Site Reliability engineers.

LOCATION

This position will be based onsite in our Columbus, OH office. Remote work is not available for this role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Analyze, design, evaluate, modify, test, and implement enterprise-wide systems.

  • Perform feasibility studies of potential software applications and prepare design proposals that reflect cost, time, and alternative actions to satisfy existing and future needs of the business.

  • Engineer extensive scripting and automation to enable applications to install and run in all environments with minimal manual intervention.

  • Reviewing status of system applications and developing automations or processes where applicable.

  • Conduct analyses of system specifications by using analysis and diagramming tools that represent business and technical processes.

  • Developing conversion and system implementation plans; preparing and obtaining approval of system and programming documentation

  • Serve as a mentor/coach to the Site Reliability Engineers in the implementation of automation processes.

  • Take ownership of production issues, working closely with the infrastructure and development teams on issue resolution and providing guidance/coaching to the engineers on active issue resolution as needed.

  • Keep up to date on trends and technology innovations to keep infrastructure current and implement solutions as cost effective as possible including potential of moving applications into and out of the cloud 

  • Provide 24x7 production support as part of a team on-call rotation; resolving or escalating issues as appropriate.

  • Execute projects within IT Project Guidelines and ensuring adherence to the project approval/prioritization process and related documentation.

  • Manage miscellaneous projects as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university preferred. 

  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience managing a cloud platform such as Azure, GCP, or AWS (Azure preferred). 

  • Microsoft Azure track certification such as Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Splunk Certification, and Datadog Certification are preferred.

  • Experience in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell.

  • SQL query experience. 

  • Linux administration experience.

  • Familiarity with Agile principles.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM Templates, Azure Bicep, or Ansible.

  • Experience managing and configuring CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting distributed systems and understanding networking, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, etc.

  • Experience with incident response and on-call rotations, including postmortem/root cause analysis.

  • Strong understanding of SRE principles: SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and service monitoring at scale.

  • Experience working with containerization: In addition to Kubernetes, familiarity with Docker.

  • Familiarity with application principles and complex design philosophy.

  • Ability to solve complex problems. 

PAY TRANSPARENCY

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $114,000.00–$159,000.00. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
