THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Business Domain Architect, you will be responsible for aligning technology strategy and solutions to the specific needs and strategic objectives of a business domain such as HR, Finance, Supply Chain, or Customer Experience. This role partners closely with business leadership, process owners, and IT to architect solutions and roadmaps that drive transformation, streamline operations, and enable business innovation within the assigned domain.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Serve as the architectural leader for a defined business domain, ensuring all technology initiatives, investments, and roadmaps are optimized for domain performance, business value, and strategic alignment. 

  • Act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, translating domain-specific strategies and requirements into actionable, effective technology architectures. 

  • Maintain deep expertise in the domain’s business processes, emerging trends, regulatory factors, and technology landscape to inform and guide architecture decisions. 

  • Be the primary advocate for domain interests in enterprise architecture governance bodies. 

  • Develop and maintain holistic architectures for the assigned business domain, mapping business capabilities, data, process flows, and supporting systems. 

  • Identify opportunities for digital transformation, process optimization, and standardization within the domain. 

  • Translate domain strategic objectives into multi-year technology roadmaps, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture frameworks and enterprise-wide standards. 

  • Collaborate with domain leaders to prioritize initiatives and investments based on business value, risk, and readiness. 

  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions (COTS, SaaS, custom) that meet domain requirements while fitting the enterprise technology landscape. 

  • Lead and facilitate domain architecture workshops, solution reviews, and design decision meetings with both business and IT teams. 

  • Ensure all domain technology plans comply with regulatory, security, and data privacy requirements as well as enterprise policies. 

  • Develop and promote domain-specific reference architectures, best practices, and standards. 

  • Partner with domain business leaders, process owners, project managers, and IT architects throughout the project lifecycle. 

  • Support change management and communication efforts necessary to optimize adoption of new or transformed processes, systems, and solutions. 

  • Monitor industry, technology, and regulatory trends relevant to the domain. 

  • Provide domain-specific thought leadership and serve as a resource on the application of innovative technologies or business models. 

LOCATION

  • This position will be based onsite at our Columbus, OH office. Remote work is not available for this role.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. 

  • 5-8+ years in the targeted business domain; experience in architecture/design roles or business analysis. 

  • Deep understanding of business processes, data, and end-to-end workflows specific to the domain. 

  • Proven track record of architecting technology solutions that drive business transformation and measurable value in the assigned area. 

  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman) and business process modeling. 

  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, and cross-functional collaboration. 

  • Strong analytical and communication skills; able to convey complex ideas to business and technical audiences. 

  • Experience with regulatory, risk, and compliance concerns relevant to the business domain. 

  • Certifications such as TOGAF, CBAP, or domain-specific (Finance, HR, Supply Chain, etc.). 

  • Project management or change management experience. 

  • Familiarity with agile, lean, or digital transformation initiatives. 

  • Strategic planning and roadmap development skills for business technology. 

  • Ability to influence and lead within matrixed or enterprise environments. 

PAY TRANSPARENCY

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $114,000.00–$159,000.00. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
