THE OPPORTUNITY
As the Manager, Database Administration, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of our database systems. You will lead a team of Database Administrators while ensuring our databases operate smoothly and efficiently to support Chipotle’s evolving technological needs.

Lead a team of Senior and Lead database administrators to provide strategy, direction, coaching and support while fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and high performance.
Develop and implement long-term strategies for database architecture and scalability to support the company’s growth and technological advancements.
Manage and negotiate contracts for tools and managed services provided within budgetary guidelines.
Collaborate with partners in cross-functional departments to include Application Development, Site Reliability, Cloud Engineering, and Data & Analytics to optimize performance of our database systems.
Monitor and manage Key Performance Indicators, ensuring high database uptime, robust backup and recovery processes, and strong security compliance.
Take ownership of incident response by working closely with Incident Managers and Change Advisory Boards to continuously improve our database and security posture.
Stay current with the latest database technologies and best practices, incorporating them to maintain industry leading standards.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university preferred.
Minimum 5-8 years of database management experience.
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience with a proven track record of managing and maintaining high performance.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to think critically and manage through problem solving.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as needed.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL, Cosmos DB, ADF, and Snowflake along with associated tools.
Experience with Azure and other cloud-based database solutions.
Deep understanding of database security best practices.
Ability to review and optimize database queries, DDLs and DMLs for performance and stability.
Utilize tools such as Splunk, SQL Sentry, Redgate, Datadog and others to maintain top performance in the environment.
PAY TRANSPARENCY
A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $112,000.00–$155,500.00. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
