Supply Chain Procurement - InternshipNewport Beach, California 610 Newport Center Drive, 92660
You as an intern will be tasked with leading an 8 to 10-week week project that addresses our key strategic objectives and gives the intern the opportunity to directly impact our supply chain in a measurable way.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
The intern will lead a project to optimize the pack sizes of products we deliver to restaurants, reducing food waste and improving the efficiency of our restaurants.
Inner packs should be aligned to restaurant usage and hold times. If a pack size is too large for restaurants to use during the allowed hold time for a product, the restaurant will often need to throw away remaining product. Outer packs should be aligned to restaurant usage, especially for cold chain items, where reducing pack size may create more room in the cooler, reducing NRO costs.
The intern will work closely with their manager, financial planning & analysis, and category managers to align on the opportunity size and a target list of pack sizes to optimize at the start of their internship. The intern will coordinate communication and implementation of new pack sizes directly with suppliers, confirming pack sizes can be changed without increasing costs, collecting updated packaging information, and putting together a presentation on the proposed changes and timelines for packaging transitions for cross-functional partners to review.
