The Technical Product Owner (PO) is a customer advocate for the Chipotle digital experience. The Technical PO will be an advocate for the customer and leverage product sense, passion for creating exceptional experiences, a data-influenced mindset and technical aptitude to build the best products. The Technical PO will lead complex requirements definition and backlog management to help us build and deliver great digital products. This person will partner with their respective Product partners to support the product vision and roadmap, while providing clear direction to a cross-functional, agile team of Developers, Product Designers, and Project Managers/Scrum Masters. The Technical PO will have an in depth understanding of the enterprise and 3rd party API services, and collaborate with the Product and App Dev teams on technical requirements. Finally, this person will thrive in an agile, highly-collaborative, fast paced environment with motivated team members that want to cultivate a better world.



In addition to following Chipotle’s policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides technical subject matter expertise - explaining product goals and detailed requirements to the Scrum Teams to ensure requirements are understood and customer value is delivered
  • Participate in discovery sessions for new features and projects. Contribute domain knowledge and technical expertise to the meetings
  • Work on large-scale initiatives impacting multiple Scrum Teams and distill complex concepts into defined User Stories with codable and testable Acceptance Criteria
  • Responsible for working with cross-functional teams to implement improvements and remove impediments that have implications across the department. Support the Scrum Team as the escalation point and help resolve blockers
  • Take complete ownership of the Technical Product Backlog and lead grooming sessions as the Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) and define feature priorities
  • Set Sprint Goals for the Scrum Team, track deliverable timelines and communicate delivery dates to stakeholders
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in team’s functional area. Has the natural curiosity to ask inquisitive questions and uncover additional use cases and dependencies
  • Responsible for assuring a level of quality has been achieved by validating that the Story meets acceptance criteria and has met acceptance tests prior and post-production launch verification





  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field; Master’s Degree in related technical field
  • 3-5+ years of Product Management/Product Ownership/Technical Business Analyst, Technical Writer experience owning one or more products in an Agile, SaaS Technology environment working with back-end development teams supporting the development of APIs, Services and Security/Performance
  • In depth knowledge of SaaS, internet technologies, API products & frameworks, enterprise integrations and ability to collaborate with front-end client teams to proactively identify and address dependencies or issues
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, dynamic team environment and able to multi-task with changing priorities in a cross-functional environment
  • Deep knowledge and experience of working in an Agile/Scrum environment with the ability to lead requirements capture, write user stories, shape the vision, prioritize backlog
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, drives for simplicity and clarity, able to confidently present and influence teams and stakeholders
  • Extensive experience with Rally, Jira, Confluence or similar product management tools


  • Experience with cloud technology such as Azure, AWS
  • Working knowledge of RESTful APIs, Swagger, SQL, Cosmos DB  
  • Scrum Product Owner certification (CSPO) preferred
