· Leads Chipotle’s approach to addressing employment related matters including policy interpretation, performance management, wage and hour, and equal employment opportunity

· Oversee administration of the Company’s whistleblower/ethics hotline

· Create insights from Restaurant and support center employee relations trends to develop solutions and strategies as well as educate leaders and partner with People Experience Partners on proactively addressing potential employee issue(s)

· Proactively identifies opportunities to mitigate risk and enhance our employees experience

· Work with in house and outside counsel to ensure our processes and policies are compliant with local, state and federal requirements

· In partnership with key stakeholders, create and implement a strategy to ensure completion of HR related compliance training throughout the organization

· May serve as company representative in litigation and employment related matters

· In partnership with stakeholders, design, develop, and draft various employee-facing and HR Compliance-related policies and processes

· In partnership with Operations, Field/Restaurant People relations, Legal and additional stakeholders, develop plans to mitigate unionization efforts by external parties

· Support the design and delivery of training on various HR programs/policies for employees including but not limited to the Employee Handbook and state supplements, I-9, e-Verify, leaves of absence, unemployment administration, wage and hour compliance, prevention of harassment/discrimination/retaliation

· Design and maintain efficient processes for unemployment claims administration.

· Oversee the process to ensure required and current employment notices, posters, forms are delivered and when applicable received back in timely manner

· Provide guidance and management to our Immigrations programs

· Build strong relationships with people experience analysts and business partners to drive adoption of sound ER practices

· Work with stakeholders to create a strategy for and support a culture of increased employee engagement within our restaurants

· Own and assist with other HR projects as required


  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a leadership role with demonstrated success in managing and developing professional level employees
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Experience directly managing and resolving complex employee relations issues
  • Experience with drafting and delivering HR policy and compliance training
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Current or previous multi-state and multi-site experience preferred, preferably in the restaurant/retail/hotel industry
  • Experience within a large, complex organization with a large employee population
  • Advanced knowledge of local, state and federal employment law, including hiring practices, EEO, EEOC, wage and hour, labor relations, etc.
  • Previous experience with federal and state claims (EEOC, DFEH, wage and hour, unemployment), as well as immigration laws and requirements
  • Proven relationship management experience and skills; demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders at multiple levels within an organization
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Project management skills
  • Leadership experience in a union environment and or labor relations
  • Experience working in a retail/hourly workforce global organization
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR certification
