The Associate Manager Employment Compliance is responsible ensuring the organization background check process and unemployment process are aligned with our company values.  Leading a team that will spearhead process, policies and procedures improvements for background checks and unemployment, as well as, provide data and analytics to identify area of opportunity and visibility to company leadership and the financial teams.  This role ensures that proper process, documentation, and follow-up are consistently navigated to ensure compliance and eliminate risk to the organization. The Associate Manager exercises good judgment and professional discretion, relying on experience to determine appropriate course of action, while ensuring the company is in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. 



In addition to following Chipotle’s policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Coach, develop, and performance management of employment compliance team. Create metrics to determine team efficiency and maintain acceptable service levels. 

  • Data and analysis for background, unemployment and Restaurant People Experience.  

  • Develop and streamline aggregate employee data for the financial and operational benefit of the organization. 

  • Partner cross-functionally with HRIT team on background check and unemployment process improvements and reporting. 

  • Vendor Relationship Management. 

  • Strategize with internal and external legal partners regarding current practices and opportunities for improvement. 

  • Manage escalated case resolution as needed to minimize risk. 

  • Develop analysis and recommendations to mitigate risk, identify themes, and evolve termination processes and ensure laws and forms are updated, as needed.

  • H.S. Diploma/GED 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred 

  • 5-7 years of experience in Human Resources/Onboarding/Employment Compliance/Reporting & Auditing/Training/Project Management 

  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience  

  • Proficient with M.S. Office- Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook 

  • PHR/SPHR preferred
